Omg. So jealous of that girl. =.=''

Archie - Imagine

So cute la! Omg. "Oh no! Don't leave me here!"

I found this website with really nice paintings by someone called Lori Earley. Omg. They're so beautiful! That "Hope" painting is by her. Click HERE for her website. Gee. I wish I could paint like that.

Going On a Treasure Hunt
Monday, May 25, 2009

A little imagination goes a long way.

I went shopping today for clothes and shoes for my trip to Taiwan and Japan this Friday, coz I kept saying I didn't have enough shirts to bring. So just now, my mum and I went on a treasure hunt through my wardrobe and she found a some old clothes that I didn't really wear or never wore before, and made me wear them. Then she proceeded to tell me how much better I looked and how I am so hopelessly old-fashioned and how I must change my sense of style.

But I'm scared coz I don't want people to think I'm so grown-up. Today, in one of the shops I went to (the shop assistants there were reaaally friendly), called The Pink Pussycat, I think, one of the shop people was like, "How old are you? 17? 18?"

When she said that, I was so offended/shocked I gave a loud gasp and covered my mouth with my hands. Then I told her I was 14! She told me I was really tall. Omg. I don't wanna look so old! I think it's the height that does it, though. The hotel manager in the place we stayed in in Japan thought I was 18 too coz he thought I was tall. Omg. I hope it's not my FACE that looks old.

I think my imagination is going away, too. Maybe that's what happens when you grow up. How very upsetting. D:

I really want Wicked by Gregory Maguire! I'm absolutely dying to read it but oh well, I can't find it.

11:39 AM

The guy that should have won American Idol...

 ADAM LAMBERT, PEOPLE!

Kiss, the freaky band that Adam sang with at the finale.

ARCHIE <3 got a new haircut! It's slightly shorter now. So hot! XD He was at the AI finale, you know?

Omg. I can't believe we saw him in real life! It's too good to be true!

Yesterday Tze Yun said her sister thinks Adam and Allison are dating. O_O Do you think they're dating? Or are they just really close friends?

11:51 AM

Okay, I'm kinda bored, so I'm just gonna do a tag from Emily's blog.

Songs

Favourite female artists:
Vanessa Carlton, Taylor Swift, Demi Lovato. Um. I don't know. Maybe Katy Perry?

Favorite male artists:
David Archuleta , Adam Lambert (does he count?), Daughtry.

Favourite bands:
Tokio Hotel <3, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Jonas Brothers, Panic at the Disco, We the Kings. I also like The Man Who Can't Be Moved by The Script, but that's just one song so I dunno. Homecoming by Hey Monday is good too.

Last 5 songs you listened to:

Mad World by Adam Lambert, Zero Gravity by David Archuleta, Плачу (акустическая)  by Maio (it's a Russian song, and I have absolutely no idea what it means, so hopefully it's nothing bad), An Deiner Seite by Tokio Hotel, One of the Boys by Katy Perry. I think.

RANDOM

Favourite color:
Blue, pink

What is the color of your shirt now?
White. With colorful giraffes and crystals on it.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of...

"Cockroach"?
Cockroaches la. What else? The disgusting, filthy creatures. Yuck.

"Rock star"?
Bill Kaulitz! Or Adam Lambert.

"Bear"?
Brother Bear. You know, the movie?

Last show you watched?
American Idol.

What is the last SMS you received?
"Yes." From my cell group leader.

What did you reply?
I didn't reply.

Where are you now?
In the study/computer room.

What are you going to do after this?
Um. I don't know. Eat or write in my diary?

Who do you usually talk to in your work place?
You mean school? Sarah, Emily, and Rachel!

This or that?

Pink or Orange?
Pink.

Blue or Green?
Both? Bluish-green is nice too.

Cats or Dogs?
Both. But usually dogs, I think, coz cats might scratch me... But then again, dogs bite. Oh well. But I especially like Sarah and Rachel's adorable army of furry felines.

Roses or Daisies?
Both. But I don't keep real flowers coz they're gonna die anyway. I'm not good at gardening.

12:53 PM

Guess what? I finally got the new bookshelf that I wanted! It's really small and has wheels, but there are several of them. Pretty cute.

But pretty useless too. Each row is too low to fit even one of the small books. The people measured it wrongly, I guess. Ish! What a waste! So I'm gonna get another bookshelf. Hopefully THIS time they'll be actually useful. =.=''

4:14 PM

Omg guys, check out this incredibly, freaking sexy video of Bill! I love it coz it's really good and pretty short (44 seconds long). Anyway, it's awesome! Omg!

And this adorable vid of Archie, David Cook, and Syesha!

1:35 --

Cook: He [Archie]'s got a real dry wit, he's really funny. Even when he's not trying to be.
Archie: What does "dry wit" mean?

... Actually, what DOES "dry wit" mean? I had to go look it up.

Dry wit: (1) "The essence of the dryness is that there is nothing funny about the wit's facial expression or style of delivery. The humour lies totally in the spoken word. Victor Borge and Peter Ustinov were past masters at this." (2) "Dry wit humor would be the kind of humor where your not all together sure they're joking."

I still don't get it 100%. I wish someone had some examples or something!

4:46 PM

Finally got some examples of dry humor!

1. Mahatma Ghandi was asked by an English journalist what he thought of Western Civilization. Ghandi replied, "Ahhh, that would be a very good idea."
2. My late husband was Irish and had an extremely dry sense of humour. I once told him that a man, passing me in the street, said to me, "Hello gorgeous." My husband replied, with a straight face, "What colour was his guide dog?"
3. "I spilled some spot remover on my dog. Now he's gone."

Dry humor is characterized by restraint, and lack of emotion in its delivery. It is wry.

Dry humour = amusing, not rolling on the floor with laughter kind of humour.
Deadpan humour = said with a straight face, and often it's hard to tell if someone if joking or not.

I think I get it now. What about this?

Emily: Nowadays I'm so nice and polite!
Me: Modest, too.
Emily: Thank you!

Was that dry humor? Or was it just sarcasm? Btw, that actually happened.

Oh, more examples from a TV show called Frasier:

(after his brother has made a particularly self-serving statement): "Niles, I've got news for you. Copernicus called and you're NOT the center of the universe."

Frasier (talking to a caller on his radio program): "There's an incredible piece of scientific equipment known as the Tunneling Electron Microscope. Now, this microscope is so powerful that by firing electrons you can actually see images of the atom, the infinitesimally minute building block of our universe. If I were using that microscope right now, I still wouldn't be able to locate my interest in your problem."

5:26 PM

David Archuleta - Imagine

Omg. Start at 5:23! Ryan pretended to leave David on the stage coz all the girls were screaming for him (David), so David was like, "No! Oh no, don't leave me here!"

OMG. HE IS SO FREAKING ADORABLE, I WANNA HUG HIM!!!

AI Finale! And the Winner Is...

Here's a recap of the AI finale yesterday:

First, Ryan Seacrest talks about how nearly 100 million (whoa!) votes came in. He introduces the judges, and they show clips of Randy Jackson's "for me, for you" line ("It just isn't the right song for me, for you"), Kara sweetening bad news ("Honey, you can't sing", "Sweetie, I don't think singing is for you"), Paula's vocabulary ("intonation", "brilliance"), and Simon being hard of hearing ("What?", "Pardon?", "Sorry?").

Ryan brings Adam Lambert and Kris Allen onstage! Mikalah Gordon reports from Conway, Arkansas (Kris's hometown), on the screen, and all the hysterical Kris fans are surrounding her. Carly Smithson reports from San Diego, California (Adam's hometown), with Adam's fans screaming around her.

The Top 13 sing So What by Pink. David Cook sings Permanent as a tribute to his brother Adam Cook, who recently passed away to a brain tumor (the performance is on iTunes, and the proceeds go to an organization that's trying to find a cure for cancer).

Ryan presents the "Golden Idol Awards" to honor the not-so-great singers in the competition.  One sang Mad World at the auditions, and it was so funnily lousy, it made me laugh so hard! Nick Mitchell (or "Norman Gentle") wins for "Outstanding Male" and performs weirdly.

Queen Latifah and Lil rounds sing Cue the Rain. Jason Mraz sings I'm Yours with Alexis and Anoop (David likes Jason Mraz!).

They play a clip of Kris's American Idol journey. He is really very modest! At the auditions, one judge asked if he was the best singer out there, and he was like, "You know, there are probably lots of people out there who are better than me." Then Kris sings Kiss a Girl with Keith Urban.

The finalist girls sing Glamorous. Fergie takes the stage and sings Big Girls Don't Cry, then the Black Eyed Peas join her and they perform Boom Boom Pow.

The Golden Idol Award for "Best Attitude." They show clips of people who reacted badly to bad comments from the judges at the auditions. Katrina Darrell a.k.a. Bikini Girl wins. Of course she was wearing a bikini. She sings Vision of Love and Kara joins her halfway, which she did not expect (at the auditions, she'd said to Kara, "I don't think your demonstration was any better," so now Kara was showing her). Then Kara gives a quick flash of her bikini. She was dared by her fellow judges, and since she did it, they had to donate some money to her favorite charity.

Allison Iraheta and Cyndi Lauper sing Time After Time.

Ryan Seacrest chats with Kris's and Adam's parents. They're so proud!

Danny Gokey sings Hello, then sings with Lionel Richie.

Ryan Seacrest talks about the AI top 10 tour and album.

A clip of Adam Lambert's AI journey! Then Adam sings Beth, wearing an AWESOME outfit, then sings Rock & Roll All Night with a metal band called Kiss. No offence, but Kiss kind of freaked me out. They painted their faces and kept sticking out their tongues while smiling, which is a bit scary. Plus they have very hairy chests.

Carlos Santana plays the guitar and the Idol finalists sing a Santana medley. Adam goes and walks over next to Santana and looks at him, so Santana shakes his hand. So cute!

A clip of David Cook surprising Kris and Adam with brand-new Ford Fusions! They thank Ford for their new cars.

Michael Sarver and Megan Joy sing a song about pretty flowers or something with Steve Martin.

The boys sing If You Want My Body (omg haha!), then Rod Stewart sings.

The Golden Idol Award for "Outstanding Female." Tatiana something wins. Ryan tells her to stay in her seat first, coz they were gonna take a break, but she runs onstage anyway and grabs the mic and award despite Ryan's protests. Then she starts singing while the guards grab her arms. She's annoying. Sorry! But I think she is.

Final performance! Adam Lambert and Kris duet and sing We Are the Champions with Queen and the rest of the Idols.

And now, after the nationwide vote of nearly 100 million votes, the winner of this year's American Idol is...

KRIS ALLEN!

Kris is really surprised. Adam gives him a big hug and walks off to one side of the stage, where the finalists are, and stands beside Allison (??). Kris doesn't "know what to feel right now, it's crazy," and he receives the trophy. Ryan Seacrest says, "Two superstars -- Adam Lambert and your idol Kris Allen, ladies and gentlemen!" Allison pushes Adam forward -- she pushed his BUTT, did you notice?! OMG!! -- and Adam and Kris do that handshake thing where you're not really shaking the other person's hand, just gripping it.

Watch where you're putting your hands, Allison!!

Kris sings No Boundaries, and the Idols come onstage with him. White confetti falls from the ceiling and everyone is screaming.

OMG. ADAM SHOULD HAVE WON! But weirdly, I'm not as upset as I thought I would be. In school, me, Sarah, and Emily found out who won before watching AI ourselves, without meaning to. Some people went and screamed it out, which spoiled everything. Gosh I hate spoilers, I HATE them. Sarah started crying and I was upset and angry, but I kind of got over it by the time I got home. I think it's coz some people were telling me, before the finale, how Adam would probably become famous even if he didn't win, and to look at what happened to David Archuleta! That cheered me up.

Oh well. Congrats to Kris. I think he's quite a good singer and he's cute, but in my opinion, Adam is better. Omg. Adam is so awesome! I really hope he gets famous! He's just so amazing and so unique! I do NOT like all those people who stopped voting for him just coz he's gay! So narrow-minded! It's a talent competition, so who cares what his sexuality is? It's not fair! I think Adam would've won if he wasn't gay, or if people didn't care about these things.

My gosh la. Even though he's probably gonna get famous anyway, I just wanted him to have the title! Wouldn't it be so cool if you got to be an American Idol? Ugh. Well, good night, everyone. It's like 12:58 AM now, so I think I better go.

Adam Lambert rocks my socks off (even though I'm not wearing any)!

AI Final Performance
Wednesday, May 20, 2009

OMG. OH MY GOSH!!!

I JUST WATCHED THE LAST PERFORMANCE FOR AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 8 AND IT WAS

FREAKING AMAZING!

OMGOMGOMG! American Idol is awesome! Why didn't I watch it until recently?!

Adam and Kris sang 3 songs each -- their choice, Simon Fuller's (creator of AI) choice, and No Boundaries, which was co-written by Kara DioGuardi and is the designated single for the winner. Adam and Kris had flipped a coin, and Kris won, so he chose to go second.

Round One. Adam sang Mad World first, and it was so omg! He was wearing this long, black cape, and there was this blue light behind him and blue fog everywhere. Very fantasy-ish and mysterious.  Randy, Kara, and Paula loved the performance. Simon said "maybe it was the coat, it was a little bit over-theatrical," but I disagree coz I love this sort of thing!

Judges' comments: Randy said that he loved that Adam was showing his sensitive side, and that he was rocking the long coat and he loved the fog, and that he was gonna give Adam an A+ for that performance. Kara said that Adam rocked it again tonight. Paula said that Adam was “astonishingly handsome”, and she was proud of him, and that the song was a great way to start the show. Simon though, who was in the media this week saying he thinks Kris Allen will win, claimed that Adam performed the song better the first time, and that the coat made him look like the Phantom of the Opera.

Kris Allen sang Ain't No Sunshine, which I have to admit was really good.  All the judges loved it, and Simon said that Round One went to Kris.

Round Two. Adam sang A Change is Gonna Come. The judges raved about it, and even Simon said that Adam was back in the game. Kris sang What's Going On. Randy and Simon thought the song was too light for such a stage of competition. Kara and Paula focused their comments on the song, with Paula saying that Kris made Marvin Gaye proud. Round Two went to Adam.

Round Three. Adam sang No Boundaries. Randy said it was a little pitchy. Kara said she was proud her song got sung by Adam. Paula said, "Adjectives can't express what you've brought to the show." Simon said he wasn't going to judge the song. Kris's version of No Boundaries was a bit slower than Adam's, but he wasn't able to pull off the song either. Randy and Kara thought the song was too high for Kris. Paula told Kris to be proud of himself. Simon said the first performance was the best.

Kris said, "Me and Adam said we're not competing, we're just coming out to put on a good show tonight."

Don't forget to watch the finale tomorrow! StarWorld (Astro channel 711), 6-8 PM and replay at 8-10 PM.
